Welcome to Leeds Community Pain Service

Our team will help you to develop ways of living a better life with your long term pain.

We are a team of health professionals who have a wealth of experience and knowledge of how to help you reduce the impact of long term pain. We also have a peer led group who have first-hand knowledge of what it is like to live with long term pain. They will be able to offer you support whilst you are a patient in our service and in the longer term, after you have been discharged from LCPS.

Your appointment

Your journey- with LCPS starts with a telephone appointment. This will introduce you to the service and start the assessment process.

The assessment is online and is part of the Pain Toolkit. We help you complete it and this will usually be done with one of our Healthcare Trainers.

Once the assessment has been completed you will then have an appointment with a Leeds Community Pain Service  team member, this will be either  a nurse, physiotherapist or occupational therapist, to look more closely at what is important for you to change. this could be around issues  for example with sleep, mood, activities, exercise, medications. We will work together to develop you action plan and goals.

For the best results you need to play an active role in the management of your pain.

COVID-19 Update:

  • Welcome to Leeds Community Pain Service Peer Support Group.

    What is Peer Support?

‘Peer Support is where people use their own experiences to help each other. There are different types of Peer Support, but they aim to bring together people with shared experiences to support each other, provide a space where you feel accepted and understood.'

Here at the Leeds Community Pain Service, our Peer Support team invite you to meet with others who understand what it's like living with chronic pain.

We provide a safe space to have a chat without judgement, to people in a similar position. It's a welcome distraction from pain and an opportunity to have fun, make friends, share experiences, advice, and tips.

Peer support groups are currently running in LS10 and LS11 and are held twice monthly.

How can I get Peer Support?

The best way to access peer support is to ask your Pain Clinician at the Community Pain Service to refer you to us, if you’re unsure who this is then contact the Pain Service admin team who will help on 0113 843 3356. Once we have received your referral form the Peer Support team will get in touch.

  • Our aim is to build and grow our little team of volunteer peer supporters as we recognise how invaluable peer support is. If you would be interested in volunteering, we’d love to hear from you. We are currently developing a new volunteer programme and hope to start recruiting in the new year, so keep an eye out for opportunities which will be advertised!
