Thank You Event 2023: Team of the Year - Winner

Every year we celebrate our amazing staff and their achievements at our Thank You ceremony. Board members will surprise colleagues at their bases and present them with a hamper, balloons and a certificate for being shining examples of our magnificent staff behaviours.

Team of the Year - Winner

Liaison and Diversion Team – Humberside

The Liaison and Diversion Team within Humberside have spent the last two and a half years working tirelessly to develop the service into one that the organisation can be proud of.  The versatility of each practitioner within the team provides a holistic, encouraging, and supportive service to those who are amongst the most vulnerable in society.

The service goes above and beyond every day to help reduce reoffending, by addressing health and social inequalities, something that is no easy task. Introduction of dignity packs which include basic hygiene products for service users and distraction packs to reduce the risk and improve the mental health of those within the custody suites are examples of ways the team have implemented initiatives to ensure that the service offer is at the heart of everything we do.

Executive Director of Operations Sam Prince visited the team in Hull to present them with the award. She praised them, "I'm so pleased the team has won. I've been watching the team develop over the last two years and I've been talking to Francis and Vicky in some lovely conversations, because whilst there have been challenges you've just achieved, achieved and achieved. What a fantastic team you are! It was also lovely to be at the celebration event at the start of the year and getting to hear the great stuff you do for our clients everyday, so a huge thank you from me and the board and well done."

Vicky Jackson, Head of Liaison and Diversion Service (Clinical) who nominated the team for the award said, “As a service manager I can truly ask for no more yet find myself continuing to do so daily due to ever changing demands within the service and needs of those on our caseload.

The practitioners within the team provide a variety of support interventions to our service users, to try and provide some stability, a helping hand, encouragement, advocacy, and a coordinated response to what can be a truly frightening event is a person’s life. They hand hold to appointments, play football in the park, and provide information to support sentencing decisions within the court arena....and everything in between.

The care, support and compassion shown for each other through wellbeing initiatives like peer supervision and daily end of shift meetings to ensure safety proves that having an amazing team like mine can really make a difference.”

Head of Liaison and Diversion Service, Frances Bedlow added, "Thank you to everyone, people who have been with us from the start and those who have joined us in the journey. It's been amazing and everyone works so hard to deliver the values of LCH and the results we get from our clients is a true testament to that."
